Join us as we create living, breathing, people, creatures, and animals! Not only will we learn to sketch and design an original character from the ground up, but we will delve into their unique personality, attitudes, and lifestyle.  Magically, with simple shapes and lines, we will create an emotive, lively individual on paper.

Participants will learn the basic watercolor techniques to paint loose birds.

Topics covered will be bird anatomy basics, capturing animal eyes, color selection, mark making, and how to combine loose washes for the body with controlled marks for the details.

Designed for young artists, this workshop runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on August 14th and 15th, and is packed with a variety of engaging activities:

Day 1 (August 14th):

Sock Creature Creation: Unleash your imagination as we transform ordinary socks into whimsical and unique sock creatures.

Gelli Printing: Discover the fascinating world of printmaking with Gelli plates. Experiment with colors, textures, and patterns to create stunning prints that are one-of-a-kind.

Day 2 (August 15th):

Collage: Dive into the art of collage by combining different materials and images to create beautiful, layered artworks.

Painting: Embrace the joy of painting with a variety of techniques, explore different styles, and express yourself on canvas.

Each day, kids will have the opportunity to develop new skills, make new friends, and take home their fantastic creations.

Bring your imagination to life by using small lights and sets, to create your own incredible photos of your favorite toy.

We'll go over the basics of photography, lighting, figure posing and angles. Multiple sets will be onsite for attendees to use as well.

Unlock your creative potential with a DIY Screenprinting workshop, led by professional printmaker Kimberly Lavon. Designed for creative people of all levels, this engaging, hands-on class will teach you how to transform simple materials into unique screenprinted art.

This immersive 6-hour workshop is split into two 2.5-hour sessions with a lunch break. You’ll start by learning about the materials and emulsion-free screen-making techniques. After lunch, you'll dive into the exciting process of pulling prints, followed by a mini critique session to share and discuss your creations.

Kimberly's expert guidance is accessible through online resources, printed handouts, verbal instructions, and in-class demonstrations, ensuring every learning style is supported. With class sizes capped at 15, you'll receive personalized attention to refine your skills.

Detailed in-person step-by-step instructions will walk you through the entire process, from preparing your screen to pulling your first print.

Dragons! Wizards! Griffins! Werewolves! Just a few mythic characters that spark the imagination and inspire the art of the fantastic. We will take a commonplace subject and slightly tweak it to create a dynamic fantasy figure. All the while using basic drawing skills and keeping it simple.  Learn how to bring the unreal to life!

This workshop will introduce you to some basics about cartooning heads. What's covered - Head Shapes, Features & Expressions. It's a fun workshop... and if you have a good sense of humor, that will add to it! There are demos and time to draw. Supplies are provided. B&W, no color.

Linocut Printing 101 is a workshop led by professional printmaker Kimberly Lavon. This class covers the entire process of creating linocut prints from start to finish. The workshop is divided into two 2.5-hour sessions with a lunch break in between.

The first half focuses on material introduction, a demonstration, and block preparation, while the second half involves pulling prints and concludes with a critique and feedback session.  In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to take a blank block and transform it into a relief sculpture fit for printing. With personalized attention in small groups, Kimberly’s expert guidance ensures every learning style is supported.

The class is limited to 15 participants. Supplies will be provided but if you have supplies you would like to bring you are more than welcome to bring it!

The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. It can increase focus and creativity, provide artistic satisfaction, and provide an increased sense of personal well-being. The Zentangle Method is enjoyed all over the world, across a wide range of skills, interests, and ages.

This is an introductory class and will present the concepts involved in creating zentangles as each participant explores the endless possibilities of "tangling." If you can write your name, you can create these beautiful drawings. Each person will create 2 "tiles" and have the tools to continue their Zentangle Journey at home.

Join us to celebrate nature and sketch wild animals. Starting from the simplest of shapes we will construct their basic forms and add the characteristic details of each animal. With just a pencil and paper we will create our favorite scaled, feathered, and furry wildlife.  Drawing the wonders of nature is within your grasp.

This class will combine two tiles into a 3-dimensional piece, utilizing a variety of tangles and inks.   Enrollees must have some knowledge of the Zentangle Method to register.

Participate in morning and/or afternoon sessions focused on making art in memory and recollection of lost loved ones.  Explore art-making as a way to express bereavement.  

Both sessions close with a brief amount of sharing of art creations.During the morning session, we will make memorial charms and pins with fabric, beads, glue guns, and safety pins.  Additionally, create a basic personalized journal that contains important text and images.  Utilize a simple notebook along with stickers, collages, and markers.When the afternoon opens, we will make beaded bracelets with memory wire containing colors and words that honor our loved ones.  Using T-shirts provided by participants, create individualized memorial shirts with fabric and hand-stitched embellishments that represent and recall lost loved ones.

Loving relationships continue after death and we can use our imaginations to support our mourning and remembrance.
